Amazing solar eclipse photos

Earlier today a solar eclipse occured that only people in Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and China got to fully experience. Others got a partial, but those were the places to see an almost total eclipse.

Heat continues this week, record tied at Sky Harbor

This yucky, hot weather will continue at least a few more days and the forecast for storms isn’t looking so great. Temperatures are going to hang around 110-115 degrees and while there WAS a chance for rain today, that chance seems to have been taken away.

And we Phoenicians thought our dust storms were bad…

Check this out from Iraq. Many of the people who live over there called this the worst dust storm in living memory. Iraqis have gotten sick from respiratory problems and travel to and from has been affected big time.

This storm covered most of the country and from the satellite pictures below…was just monstrous. Iraq is about the same geographic size as California.

Yikes! Heat advisory for Phoenix this weekend

I wrote about it two days ago and now it’s coming true. The National Weather Service has issued an “excessive heat advisory” for the greater Phoenix area from this coming Friday – Monday.

We’re talking 112-117 degrees this weekend. Ouch.

Looks like I’ll be staying indoors.

Tropical Storm Andres close to hurricane strength

According to the National Hurricane Center, tropical storm Andres now has sustained winds of 70mph and is moving northwest at 9mph.
Once a tropical storm’s winds are sustained over 73mph, its designation changes to a hurricane.
The NHC predicts around 11am PDT today it will reach hurricane strength.
