Weather photos of the day 6.23.09
On the heels of Shane’s lightning photos that he posted on Wunderground, are some stunning shots from a storm he chased in Kansas on Saturday.
The chase was amazing to Shane, who called it the most exciting he’s ever been on:
This was by far the best, most exciting storm I have EVER seen! I’ll be talking about this for a long time! I went alone and if you look at the radar loop the cell was not that impressive starting out. When the rains came, I almost left. But in the distance I could see a faint wall cloud. I was driving on saturated dirt/gravel roads and got stuck once. A young kid who was canoeing helped me out. Then the chase was on! Driving with mud flipping all over my wife’s van! The storm at first was slow moving so I could shoot and then get ahead of it again. When the chase was over, I failed to look at my gas guage! It read 3 miles until empty when I pulled into the gas station!LOL
